better shopping

Today we went to Lowe's with Gran again, this time to look at stuff for our own house rather than the lake. We were standing at the Project Desk, trying to figure out what we needed for the roofing project, and Dennis got a little bored. He didn't do that awful whining he's been doing lately, though. Instead he piped up with "Mommy, you are a very bad person, and you need to be in jail". He handed me an orange file storage crate and told me to put it over my head and arms. I complied just to hear his giggle. He and I took off to look at other things and ended up getting a slide for his play set. It barely fit in the van and he had such fun rolling his fire trucks on it while we were on the road. Dennis also helped me select a few slate tiles for our fireplace installation project. He held and expected each tile and decided which ones we needed. He is very excited about both purchases!

He was actually so much better today than he's been in a whole month of shopping trips, and we were happy to stop in at Chick-Fil-A and let him play on their air-conditioned indoor playground as long as he wanted. I didn't have to climb into a hamster tube to fetch him--I motioned to him to come out, and he motioned back that he was going down the slide one more time. Then he put his shoes on and came out under his own steam. I'm so proud! No crying!
