quote of the day
I heard him say this on at least three separate occasions today, mostly to me but once to David as well. "Mommy (or Daddy) STOP TELLING ME WHAT TO DO!!!" he said. Though I explained to him that it was our job to tell him what to do, and that the things we were telling him (e.g. 'Don't run out into the parking lot' or 'stop touching everything in the public bathroom') were to keep him safe and healthy. I think he needs to feel that he can make some decisions for himself. He chooses his own breakfasts and lunches, and he decides what games to play, toys to use, or shows to watch, but that isn't enough apparently. Perhaps it's time to start letting him decide bigger things, though I can't imagine what those things should be...
