hard lessons
It isn't easy to watch another kid tackle your child and hold him on the ground by lying on top of him. It also isn't easy to watch if your child is the one doing the tackling and pinning. Dennis was a bit aggressive on the playground today and learned some lessons from his teacher about playing a little less rough. Let's hope he remembers. I stood back and let her handle it (and I was busy with my own class at the time). We don't watch shows with Dennis about cops and bad guys, but somehow that's the game he always wants to play. He neglects to inform the other children that they are suddenly "bad guys" and they are surprised when they are tackled or sent to "jail". When his teacher asked him why he tackled Brody, he told her "I am a policeman and I thought he was a criminal." We have some work to do in this area for sure! Most of the time I am proud if his vivid imagination and constant role playing, but it might be nice to remind him that we can still have fun playing as ourselves in Reality Land.
