catching the big one

Gran and Granny took Dennis fishing this morning after he begged long enough. I hear that he's as expert caster these days, and I also hear that he made a very big catch this morning. Apparently he caught Granny! His hook caught her pant leg and required some real work to get loose.

I saw Dennis after this--I met up with everyone at Gran's and found Dennis spraying out pretend fires in her garden with a real hose (and real water). We enjoyed picnicking out there before heading to the park for a walk. Dennis refused to walk farther after he'd gone 2/3 of a mile, and Granny sat with him on the park bench and told him story after story while Gran and I got in some more mileage. He was thrilled about this and didn't want to leave when it was time to. He sure did enjoy Granny's visit and told her he didn't want her to leave. He was so excited about seeing her yesterday that he rushed me out of Walmart, first saying that he'd sit in the car while I ran in and then grudgingly agreeing to accompany me inside "but just to the bank, Mommy, we can shop for the other stuff later--I just want to go on to the lake now." What a change! He didn't even want to take time to look at the "boy toys"!
