Dennis had the idea to make a video to sing Happy Birthday to Pop. I took one with my cell phone so we could send it right away, and I think it made Pop pretty happy. Dennis didn't actually see Pop today--he woke me up standing beside my bed saying "there's something wrong with my nose, Mommy". He was just a little stopped up, has been for the past few mornings, and it suddenly occurred to me that today was Saturday and though I'd been looking forward to a slow morning at home, I remembered that we had to go to swim class. He woke me up at 9:19 and swim class starts at 9:30. We were only 8 minutes late. Unbelievable! I was out nearly all night doing Relay For Life, so thank goodness he woke me up, and thank goodness he slept late himself!
He started feeling pretty miserable a few hours after swim class, congestion and bad cough being his chief symptoms. I took off to do some shopping with Gran and to have supper with Pop, and when I got home, we put Dennis to bed. When I went to check on him an hour later, he was not breathing too well with all the drainage--he would stop breathing and swallow a bunch of times and then kind of gasp. It freaked me out, so I brought him to our bed and took his temperature, which was 102 under his arm. David was not as concerned, so I dosed him with Tylenol (the Motrin didn't work) and watched him for an hour then set the alarm to check on him through the night. He seems fine now, no more gasping, and the fever went down to 99.5. It looks like we'll be visiting the doc on Monday!
