back in port

We docked in Mobile early this morning but had to wait a few hours before we could get off the ship. We had a nice breakfast after we cleared out of our rooms, and then we had to go and wait for our numbers to be called. We had a LONG wait. Fortunately we were in air conditioned comfort in a lounge, and Dennis and Chloe entertained us with their new guitars from Progreso. There were some creative disagreements about which song to sing, though, between 'A-B-C' and 'Old MacDonald'. Our favorite was Dennis' rendition of 'Row Row Row Your Boat'.

Finally we were called, and I think we might have been the last people off the ship. We had a very long line to deal with to get to the Customs line which was even longer and more excruciating. Dennis did not wait well and took a ride on top of Gran's and Pop's suitcase for awhile. He liked watching the drug dogs walking around, and at one point, he got on the floor and put his back against the suitcase and told us he was a turtle and that was his shell.

We did eventually get back into the U.S. without mishap, and we went straight to Cracker Barrel! Dennis slept all the way back to Clanton from Mobile, and he played rather quietly at home after we got there. Yes, it's good to be home, but I admit that I am really going to miss being on that ship with all those folks taking care of us!
