the happiest kid

Dennis is a study in the extreme capacity of joy. I don't know if this is something common among 4 year olds, but Dennis seems to savor every bit of fun and adventure and magic that can possibly be experienced in his young life. Small things make him happy, ecstatic even, and a day of exploration and imaginative play fills him to overflowing. I love that about him. Tonight he went with his dad to his Grandma's house, and GrandBob played and played with him. He told us "Bob plays better than you or Daddy!". Tonight he's too happy to sleep, and he is lying there in bed, practically vibrating with delight over his day, humming a cheerful little nonsense tune. He is the happiest person I know, the sunniest disposition I have yet to experience. I went for a bedtime cuddle and he pounced on me, saying "let's sing 'I love you' to each other." So we did. And I asked him if he was happy. If he'd smiled any bigger, we'd have needed to realign his jaw. He said "yes, because Daddy read me a Jesus story." I asked him which one and he said "the one about clean feet!".
