Tonight's lesson at God's World was all about stars. We got out the telescope and talked about its use. We discussed red dwarfs and giant stars and supernovas. Dennis made a lovely starfield picture with red glitter and stickers. Tonight he said a prayer asking God to help the space shuttle land safely in the morning.
The art project for my class involved taking a toilet paper tube, painting it, and covering one end with black paper that had a design punched into it. If you look through the uncovered end, you'd see a night sky type effect. My example was that of a spiral galaxy, but the kids chose all different designs for their own 'telescopes'. Tonight, Dennis shone his flashlight into mine to create a galaxy on the ceiling of his dark bedroom. He loved it! He also loves the telescope and wants to look at Saturn. One night soon, we'll try to do just that!
