bitten by the space bug
A visit to the planetarium this morning resulted in two things. First, he developed a new fascination with space, the stars, and the planets. Second, he scored a space playset with a lunar module, an astronaut, a satellite, a rocket, and a prototype shuttle of the future. All day he talked about things space related, so for our movie tonight, we watched Apollo 13. Now he wants to be an astronaut when he grows up. Since the last shuttle flight will be on the ground in less than 36 hours, I don't know what the future holds for the space program. I'd like to believe he can be anything he wants to be, and I told him this. He said, "Well, I'd really like to be Spiderman, but I'd love to be a spaceman too." We've got to watch that "anything you want to be" stuff, though I told him he might could play Spiderman in a show one day!
Now we need to hightail it to the Space and Rocket Center while it's still around (not that I am predicting its demise or anything, but these are uncertain times).
