storyteller

Another exciting summer day for Dennis! We made a visit to the library this morning, and he asked me in the car on the way there "Do you think they have any America books?". I told him I was sure they did, and he saw some in the window display on our way in. He walked up to a librarian and asked "Excuse me, do you have any America books?" and she took us to the history section and helped him find just what he wanted. He sat down to look at them right away.

This afternoon, Dennis met a Forest Ranger. We stopped by the U.S. Forestry Ranger Station (just 3 miles or so from our house) to pick up some teaching materials and posters for the summer church kids program (God's World). The Ranger showed Dennis some very old forestry tools and a giant chunk of petrified wood and a couple of snakeskins. And he answered several of Dennis' questions (and mine). And Dennis got a Smokey Bear ruler to commemorate his visit.

Tonight was movie night with Uncle Denny. The three of us went to see Cars 2 in Prattville and then to do some grocery shopping. Dennis entertained us with many stories on the way home (the Indian of Liberty, a spider-eating cricket, a ghost that gave up eating Real Food so that it could eat poop...). Who needs audiobooks when we have him?
