illness in his favorite color

This morning the nurse confirmed that Dennis has Scarlet Fever. It sounds utterly terrifying, but it's only the rash that sometimes accompanies strep throat. He's itchy and red, rashes on his face, neck, and back, even a bit on his legs popped up tonight. The treatment is the same as he's already getting plus benadryl for the itch. Given all this, he felt quite good today and accompanied me to church, where he played and played and played. He was completely wiped out by the time class started and barely made it through. He was irritable and whiny and just dreadful right at the end of class, and he sobbed all the way home that he didn't want to leave the church "because I love it there and wish I could go every day." If I hadn't been teaching a class tonight, we wouldn't have even left home today. It was a lot for a sick kid to do, too much, and I hope he sleeps well and long tonight. He sure carried on all day as if he were feeling as good as usual, and he had no fever, so maybe he's on the mend and will get over it fast.
