celebrating spring

It may be a day or so early, but it was perfect spring weather today! Dennis and I met a good friend at Peach Park and shared some peach ice cream. Then we walked in the sun and played on the playground. Dennis is wearing shorts and we both have on sandals, and it's so good to be free of socks! I don't know if the cold weather is officially gone, but we're enjoying the warmth and mild breezes and all the sun while we can. Sounds like Friday might be a perfect day to hike, and I'm hoping I can make it work out.

Two mornings in a row I've woken to find the most perfect light outside, soft and warm light that beautifully illuminates the hundreds of trees I see from our windows. Leaves are beginning to appear everywhere, and Alabama is really greening up. I have the urge to plant flowers (much as Dennis has the urge to pick and destroy them).

I put the first band-aid on the first skinned knee of the season today, and Dennis was fascinated by the sticker on his leg. He peeled it off rather immediately, of course. And in other little boy milestone news: he pushed a chair over, climbed up, and fetched the cookie jar off a high shelf and pilfered it all by himself. I also caught him lifting the cover off the cake plate while chanting "Daddy cake, Daddy cake", and I rescued the cake before Dennis got it everywhere. He's fast, and he's into mischief, and so far that only makes life funnier than it was before.
