the joy of clean
Since his room was clean today and all the toys were organized, we couldn't pry him out of there! He did, however, insist on company, so I spent a good portion of the early part of my day in his room with him, playing Transformers. He took so long setting up his front of Autobots (good guys) to fight with my Decepticons (bad guys) that my Megatron (uber bad guy) shot all his guys before they were ready to battle. He was not happy about this and ordered me to STOP and leave the room until he was all set up. I did so. When I returned, he'd moved his Autobots into the dollhouse we just brought home from Grandma's, the one he appropriated for his new Autobot Headquarters. I surrounded the house with Decepticons, but we couldn't penetrate his defenses. It was naptime when I left him there, and after he lay still and quiet for an hour and couldn't sleep, I let him keep playing but insisted he stay in his room so I could do Zumba without him underfoot and needing things. He did so. We had a prearranged meeting with his Daddy at the gym, and when I reentered his room to make sure he was ready to go, I saw massive toy carnage. He told me "the Indians and cowboys were fighting, but the Army came in and took out everyone." At least he's somewhat historically active! The really great part? I left him with instructions to get ready to leave, and when I returned, he was indeed ready and his room was once again clean. We met David at the gym, worked out, and went and had a great visit with Uncle Denny in the hospital. We used up our gift cards to Olive Garden on a very nice dinner with a surprisingly well behaved Dennis. The kids at the next table were so awful that I think he began to understand some things about restaurant behavior!
