AWANA fun
It was Family Fun Night at church, a night of toss games, inflatable bouncy houses, pizza, Roller Racers, and face painting, all in the cool of the gym. All the kids had a wonderful time and David and I might have as well if we hadn't been working the Roller Racer area, having to time the rides (loosely) and tell kids to get off so others could ride and having to maintain order in the line of waiting children. For two hours. Dennis had a spectacular time, he says, and he looked happy on the rare occasions we saw him go running by or take a turn on a racer. We had to bring his pizza home with us because he couldn't stop playing long enough to eat at the event. He even got his face painted (not something he usually does), happily sporting a red Autobot symbol on his cheek. He did NOT want to leave. I had tentative plans for a Walmart run afterward but it didn't happen. I told Dennis it was because he was too whiny to shop. He said "I'm not TOO whiny; I'm just a LITTLE whiny!". But that was a little too much for us. Now we are getting ready to end the day, and I'm so proud that Dennis washed his face paint off all by himself with water and a rag--with no prompting from us. We did catch him trying to wrap a box with gift wrap and duct tape a few minutes ago, and I'm thinking I'm going to let him wrap the Christmas gifts this year. That'll be something, for sure!
