spider package

When the mail arrived this morning, it came up the driveway, so I knew there must be a package. I sent Dennis out the door to collect the package from the driver. He was thrilled that the box was for him, and he opened it to find various Spiderman figures of all sizes along with 2 books. He was so excited, and immediately packed up his new treasures to take with him to Gran's house. She took him with her to the lake so that I could attend a Methodist worldwide leadership summit conference (Internet telecast, I viewed it at church) on the changes the church needs to make to "grow vital congregations" and minister in this new century. Heavy stuff!

I picked Dennis up just a while ago and he had helped Gran plant a garden for Uncle Denny. He and I arrived home, and when I came around to open his door, he said "look, Mommy, the Spidermen are bowing down to God!". I looked to see that he had posed them in such a way that they were indeed! I hadn't told him about my conference, hadn't even brought up religion on our short car ride. I am continually amazed at my child's spirituality. He said an elaborate naptime prayer (he calls it "saying a REAL prayer" when he makes up his own words rather than praying a memorized one), and now he's getting some rest before soccer practice and church later this evening.

I wonder what Spiderman was praying for.
