It was a fight, a long drawn out battle to see who would gain control of Dennis' rug. The Evil Decepticons (created out of Lego men because we don't actually own any Transformers) tried to blast the Autobots (led by Optimus Prime Dennis, who does a very neat impression, even folding and unfolding his body as he "transforms") out of the room. I know the battle raged all day (except for naptime, when each side declared a brief cease fire), and I'm uncertain as to whether a winner has been declared. It was difficult to discern the victor from the carnage on the floor (before he cleaned up). Possibly the war will rage on endlessly, just as it does in the 1980's Transformers episodes that Dennis has discovered on the Hub channel, which he and David watch together in total absorption.
He played in his room most of the day. We did see him at mealtimes, and supper was especially fun. He discovered how to work the new shiny pepper mill from Uncle Denny and happily peppered his baked potato (and ate it as well, exclaiming that he loved spices). He also invented and told the following knock-knock joke: "knock knock" - "who's there?" - "tag" - "tag who?" - "tag you're it FOR LIFE!!!". He's very proud.
The forces of good and evil will continue to rage against one another in our home, be they Transformers or super heroes vs villains or even police vs robbers. I'm always the bad guy to Dennis' good guy. He did tell me a long bedtime story tonight where I was Fireman Mommy and saved a bakery, finally my chance to be on the side of good!
