While Gran and I were getting ready to go to the lake today, Dennis was amusing himself by pushing various buttons and working various levers in the van. Tonight on our way home, we couldn't figure out how to get the instrument panels to light up without consulting the vehicle owner's manual. It turns out that you have to turn the odometer reset knob, a little skinny rod type knob in the middle of the speedometer. How in the world did Dennis manage to turn it? He's more capable every day. Nothing is safe in our house anymore. Dennis can open all our doorknobs in the place and can get anywhere.
The verbal skills are still exponentially increasing. He's saying "I eat" now when he's hungry and "ready go" when he's ready to go out. He says "thank you cheese" or "thank you juice" or whatever word to thank us for giving him something. And today he said "Mama, see fish beads?" when he wanted me to hand him the set of party beads (with fish on them) that were hanging out of his reach at the lake house. And then "See green beads?" when he wanted the other set of beads. I love the little sentences and questions. I can't believe how fast he's changing!
