Ash Wednesday

I usually love to go to our church's Ash Wednesday service--it's a nice preparation for the season of Lent, a time when I usually make even more of an effort to remember Jesus' sacrifice for us. It was not to be today, because we are now officially all sick. Dennis is a veritable factory of snot and drool and coughing and sneezing. He is still running around happily, though, and I wish I had just a portion of his energy, if only so I could keep up with him.

David was too ill to work today as well. It was family day home on the couch. Dennis slept with us last night because he was so miserable and pitiful that I felt sorry for him and brought him in there. This means that I didn't get any sleep because there were always toes poking my back and somehow he managed to take up all the space on my side of the bed. It's a king-sized mattress and still parts of me were hanging off one side.

Dennis dictated our activities today. He walked us into the den and said "Winnie Pooh movie" and then pointed to the television. We asked him if he wanted to watch it in his own room and he climbed onto the couch and patted the space beside him and said "Daddy chair". Just when I thought I was going to get to go lie down he said "Mommy sit down" while forcefully patting the space on the couch on the other side of him. He's the boss! And we were too feeble to put up any fight.
