Every day I check the mail, secretly wishing for something unexpected and wonderful (like money, perhaps, or a new parenting magazine to read, or a card). The only one of us who got mail today was Dennis. He was delighted to get a Valentine from his cousins Caedmon and Mirella. He studied it for a long time, turning it over and over to examine the craftsmanship. He tore off one of the small hearts glued to it. He tasted it. He hugged it. He said "Dennis card". He was very proud.
I suppose that qualifies as something unexpected and wonderful in the mailbox. Thanks, Caedmon and Mirella (and Aunt Kristin, especially).
