what a welcome
I love that when I came home from Curves tonight, I could hear big belly laughs and baby chuckles coming from the house before I even opened the door. David and Dennis were playing chase, sort of. David was chasing Dennis and trying to get him into his pajama pants and Dennis was escaping and running full speed, giggling madly at his success. He was running toward the living room and noticed me standing there inside the doorway and stopped suddenly. He yelled "Mommy! You're home!". I joined in the chase and we caught him and got him ready for bed. We spent some time doing his reading flash cards with him with pretty much no success, and this is what let us know how tired he was. He couldn't be still. When we tucked him into bed, he coughed and I asked him if he was okay. He said "I need some Airborne." I went and fixed him some--no fever, thank goodness--and asked him what was wrong. He said "I'm sick!". I asked "what feels bad?" (hoping he'd identify the problem) and he said "me". Not much help! When David mentioned allergies, I thought of the bright yellow dusting of pollen that's all over the surface of everything, and I remembered Dennis' favorite hobby of running his hands over the car and saying "eww it's dirty". Yes, he got into some serious pollen today. No wonder he's a sneeze factory! Daddy and I are a little drippy as well. Antihistamines for all! I hope his prescription holds out for a few more doses for him since you can't buy ANYTHING for kids under 6 anymore over the counter. And maybe the predicted rain will take the pollen down a notch as it lowers the temperature. We've had a summer preview here the past few days, and I'll be glad to get the spring weather later this week!
