he told me!
I told Dennis that he needed to start working on his potty training, especially since we are going on a cruise in May. I told him that he wouldn't be allowed to swim in a swim diaper there on the ship. He told me "I'm not planning on swimming, Mommy". He sounded so serious and so grown-up that David and I did our best to stifle our laughter. To be fair to him, though, he has made 2 semi-attempts at the potty. The first was when he was alone in his room--he took off his pants and diaper and then peed in his playhouse. He told me about it when I came in there to see why he wasn't taking his nap. The second happened today when I put him down for his nap (I'm sensing a trend--avoid napping by going potty) and he told me he wanted to poo-poo in the potty. I fell for it, of course, and we went into the bathroom and I put him up on his potty seat. He sat there a while and then said "the pee-pee and poo-poo not coming out, Mommy, why not?". This I consider an actual effort, and I told him I was proud of him for trying, but then I made him take his nap.
