excellent help, really

The potty training is going nowhere, I think. We put him in some regular underpants and station his potty close at hand, but all he's doing is peeing and then telling us about it. Maybe this is progress of a sort--he knows what he's doing, at least after he does it. Today he came into the kitchen and said "Mommy, I made a big mess, come look at the big mess. Come on, I show you, hold my hand". He took my hand and took me into the den. I looked and didn't notice anything. I asked him what it was and he said "I poo-pooed and made a big mess" and then I dreaded what he was going to point to. He led me over to a tiny wet spot on the floor and said "it's right here, Mommy" and I clarified that what he actually did was pee. Then I said "okay, we'll clean it up". I went after a towel and when I came back, Dennis had obtained my water spray bottle and was diligently spraying his pee spot with water. I had to smile. He said "I clean it, Mommy, I help". It was certainly a good try!
