a new manipulation
We were in the car on our way to Dothan yesterday when Dennis decided he was hungry. He'd had a snack and Granny was fixing our lunch, so I told him he'd have to wait to eat any more food. He whined "but my blood sugar is getting low--it's dropping and I need something to eat!". I have never heard him use this particular argument before, and I have to wonder if he has associated it with Granny. I'm prone to low blood sugar sometimes, so I could be the culprit, I suppose. He tried the same ploy tonight when it was time for bed, telling me "my blood sugar is too low, and I need a peppermint." We asked him how he could tell, and he said "my stomach told my brain--that's how I know!". The peppermint seemed to solve the problem (the imagined one), thank goodness!
